How to maintain your kids ride on battery

Common queries we receive at RiiRoo is 'My child's birthday is not for 3 months, do I need to charge it now?' or 'I am going away do I need to remove the batteries from the ride-on' ?

Now when receive any battery operated ride-on from us the battery will always be disconnected either by 1 wire or a clip. A few reasons for this including health + safety purposes but primarily because the batteries would all deplete and stop working if they were fully connected.

The reason ? Ride-on's use LED acid batteries which similar to your real car battery dies if not used/charged for 2-3 weeks.

So if you are not going to be using the item for a 2-3 week period or longer than no you do not have to charge the battery you can simply disconnect them as you first receive it, 1 wire or clip will do just to prevent the power running through it.

The other way to do it is just give it a full charge every 2 weeks even when not in use so the battery does not completely die.

Other tips for longevity of the battery would include fully charging before each use, MOST IMPORTANTLY the very first use.

Never under or over charging and never letting the item fully die. As the ride-on's require charge they will begin to slow down and start to move very slow. This is the item telling you it's ready for a charge so if possible at this point turn off the engine and put it on charge
